- Speed improvements on several pages by limiting default search results shown from 30 down to 15.
- Occasional login and signup through facebook errors were fixed.
-
Trips
- Uploaded trips now have moving time, and thus distance, average HR, cadence and watts calculated differently. I changed the default "stopped limit" to 2mph, up from 0.5 mph. So, if you are traveling less than 2mph you will be considered "stopped". This gets rid of lots of bad values from standing still but having your GPS register you as moving (sensor errors). In future, this will be changed to be user selectable, so hikers won't be penalized.
- zero distance trip uploads should now be fixed...Couldn't find a clear indication of the problem, but I think I solved it anyway.
- Fixed broken map on trip edit form
-
Conversations
- "Back to inbox" now works again, sorry for that being broke
Released 02-16-11

-
Routes
- Improved API access for developers. Contact us if you need access to detailed route or trip information.
- Fixed TCX export - will now properly show locations of turns on Edge 305 and Edge 500 devices when "doing a course".
-
Trips
- If you have a power meter, all power and calorie figures are now computed using power, rather than the old estimated values based on heartrate.
- Calories are computed assuming a 25% efficiency (75% of work lost as heat). ((power converted into Kwatt)*(time to reach number of Kjoule burned)/(conversion from Kjoule to cal))/(efficiency)
- Improved accuracy of cadence/hr/speed averages. No longer computing values when "stopped" as part of the average. In the future I will add options in your profile to change value for stopped speed, etc.
- Improved API access for developers. Contact us if you need access to detailed route or trip information.
Released 12-30-10
Version 1.1.30
-
Inbox
- Clicking back to inbox will show correct unread count and read/unread messages accurately. (bugfix)
-
Gear / Trips
- When editing or creating gear, added option to exclude trips on that gear from totals. Example: I don't want to see my motorcycle roadtrips included in my total elevation gain and total miles, so I edit that gear and use this new option.
-
Garmin Sync

- Added ability to display recently used routes when importing new rides, which is a quicker route selection method if you are logging a regular ride and have a long list of routes to choose from.
Released 12-06-10
Version 1.1.29
-
Email Notifications
- Replying to an email notification for a message or a comment is now better at detecting and ommitting the original message text. Before, it often quoted the entire original email in the comment or message thread, which was pretty ugly.
-
User profile page
- Activity calendar on the profile page now remembers your selection of what to display on the calendar. By checking/unchecking the boxes, that preference is remembered in the future for viewing yours and others profile calendars.
- Switching back and forth to route previewer no longer breaks map.
-
Trips
- Uploaded trips that have some bad data (multiple points with same timestamps) no longer have bad speed graphs.
Released 11-29-10
Version 1.1.28
-
Site Wide
- Major site speed improvements. I trimmed out unused javascript and CSS from the main site and only included it where it was needed. Additionally, I removed automatic logging in through facebook, which was costing about 1 second per page load. Now, users must log in manually through facebook by clicking a button, however the speed improvements were well worth it.
-
Comments
- Commenting on gear that isn't your own no longer tosses an error
- Replying to your comment notification email will now post a comment in reply.
-
Messaging
- Replying to a new message notification email will now reply to that message.
-
Trips
- You can now send an email to upload@rwgps.com with an attached TCX/GPX/KML file, and have that file post to your profile. This only works if you are sending the email from the account you registered RWGPS with. This is especially handy for users of mobile phones who use applications like MyTracks for Android, which allow exportation of a logged activity by email.
- Fixed edit trip page - had weird CSS styling that was causing things to be pushed all over in various browsers.
Released 10-27-10

- Fixed an issue where certain internet connections (usually people accessing from work, school or a cellphone) weren't able to connect reliably. If you were getting blank pages or frequent "Something Went Wrong" messages, this fix probably solved your issue.
-
Routes
- Improved speed of route search by 2 orders of magnitude. Before, querying the database took around 0.6 seconds (and was getting worse the more routes we have), now it is consistently around 0.01 seconds. Much faster! Only downside is "distance from" isn't a circle where the distance is the radius, it's a square where the distance is the side of the square, meaning that it might include extras a little further than the search, and exclude some right inside the search boundary. I will improve this later with a polygoin approximation of a circle, but this is a big improvement for now.
- Added flash player detection - if you don't have it, you get notified and told how to get it

Site-wide
- Added "Browse Routes" as a menu item under "Routes"
-
Route Planner
- Fixed auto-save problems. Now you will get your full route back, rather than have it occasionally miss sections.
- Now responds to metric/imperial changes. Sorry about that small bug.
- Fixed issue where drawing route too fast would 'overload' map and not draw a section.
- We now auto-center on your last click. Removes the need for dragging around map after clicking.
- Hopefully found a good middleground between reducing number of cuesheet points generated and losing turns. As always, continue double checking your cuesheets after drawing a route!
- Changed color of speed overlay on the graph from purple to black -- it now stands out against the reddish elevation background.
- If you forget to login before drawing a new route, the save form will remind you and prompt you for your username and password. No more accidental orphan routes.
- Non logged in users can no longer save routes as invisible. There were 327 unviewable routes because they were invisible and had no owners! These have now been made visible.
- Accidentally introduced a bug that killed cuesheets after saving a route. This was live for a day, but is now fixed with this release.
- Disabled double-click zoom
- Added shortcut key for adding new course point (n)
-
Profile Page
- Fixed previewer map bugs that made it so only portions of route displayed
