Resolved: Voting!

Started by bobthib on Feb 25, 10
I'm sure it's just because I'm an old fart, but I thought I was "voting" automaticly when I posted a comment but apparnetly not. To vote you have to click on the "Vote ^" LINK. So this may lead to undervoting. I understand that comments may not be positive, so automatic voting when commenting is not appropriate. I haven't checked, but can I vote more that once? If so, that's a problem, IMHO.

No voting more than once is allowed unless you do something sneaky like make multiple accounts (we'd prefer users didn't do this....). Notice how the Vote text turns into a red 'Unvote' with a down arrow. Clicking that will remove your vote.

Originally I made it so people could downvote as well, but decided to keep it simple and positive. Everyone has a decent idea, so we won't penalize them, just let the good ones float to the top.

And you are right on my reasoning for not making a comment auto-vote. I figured I didn't want to vote on everything I had an opinion on, and others might not too! Users familiar with facebook (increasingly the interface to emulate to make users comfortable) will recognize a similarity to commenting on someones post, vs clicking the 'Like' button.
