Distance of trip zeros out

Started by Jared Casper on Jan 25, 11
Editting a trip will occasionally zero out (or almost, e.g. 0.007) the total distance of the trip. It sometimes takes several attempts to restore the actual total distance.

Same issue. Saving a trip with distance 12.1 miles results in a trip of 0.0043 miles. I did not touch the distance field initially, then tried explicitly setting the distance to 12.1 miles. On every save it reset the distance to 0.0043 miles. I deleted and reloaded the same activity 4 times and attempted to edit with the same result. I guess I can't edit the name of the trip until this is fixed.

The contents of the distance text box are intermittently divided by ~2835. I was able to get 12 miles entered for http://ridewithgps.com/trips/179598 by entering 34020 miles.

Same problem for me also. When I rename an activity and save it the distance becomes 0.0km.

Why is that my imported GPX files are named as a date (the date of the activity) and not the same name as the GPX file?

I'm having issues with time/distance as well. I upload to three site (GarminConnect, Strava and here). Strava & Garmin reports basically the same time/distance. When I upload to RideWithGPS, it initially comes up correct, but later when I go to my activities page, the time/distances are shortened by a mile or more (on 5 to 8 mile hikes), time is shortened as well. The map for the activity is still correct (you can still see the little mile marker indicators), so there's quite the bug somewhere. I've deleted & uploaded multiple times with no luck at all. Once in a while an upload works perfect. Not good. The exact same data file uploaded to the various GPS web sites should display pretty much the same thing, don't you think?

Same ongoing issue, though it occurs intermittently. In fact I expect the mileage to zero out every time I edit a newly loaded GPX file, so I have gotten into the habit of copying the mileage and then editing the route a 2nd time to re-enter the mileage when/if it zeros out. It would be nice to have this bug fixed.

Come on ridewithgps, please fix this issue. How many people to need to report this before it will be fixed?

Thanks.

Had this problem today for the first time. Didn't do anything differently -- just trying to edit the name, etc. of the trip.

I'm now also having the same 'zeroing out' issue when I simply edit the name of my trip. This is a catastrophic bug that needs fixing. It worked fine in the past. Now it's broke. I've done nothing different, same OS, same browser, same Garmin. Works fine in two other GPS web sites (GarminConnect & Strava).
Plus the time/mileage is incorrect as well. Perhaps there are a number of bugs?

I have the same problem... editing other fields make the total distance very small

Having this problem too. It doesn't happen on every activity, and I'm not sure what triggers it.

I think I am having a similar issue. I have noticed that for the past week that all my run/rides are now 0.0 miles

This was fixed last month, are any of you still experiencing this issue?

It's working for any trips I add now, but the trips entered when the problem was there are still wrong (it says I biked 33,000 km!). Maybe that can't be fixed?

Thanks for the reply.
