See i.e. sportstrack with the gps2powertrack plugin. (and I wouldn't blame you if you reserved it for the payware version)

The Garmin 500 has a (very bad) thermometer, so that data could be tracked, at least for max, min, avg input trip.

I have a small digital thermometer that came in an energy conservation kit handed out free by SMUD, or local muni power company. It responds to temp changes in seconds, which is important riding along the river in winter as temps often drop 3-5 degrees in 100 yards when dropping down into low draws.

Since Garmin has seen fit to put complete thermometers that are complete crap on their GPS units, how about selling RideWithGPS branded thermometer. Ideally, using a spare ANT+ channel, or masquerading as a cadence sensor.

(sorry, IE went insane and mangled my text above)

The Garmin 500 has a (very bad) thermometer, so that data could be tracked, at least for max, min, avg, and then input for a trip.

I have a small digital thermometer mounted on my aerobars, that came in an energy conservation kit handed out free by SMUD, our local muni power company. It responds to temp changes in seconds, which is important riding along the river in winter as temps often drop 3-5 degrees in 100 yards when dropping down into low draws. Having the true low temp is critically important when planning your clothing in winter.

Since Garmin has seen fit to put complete crap thermometers on their GPS units, how about selling RideWithGPS branded thermometers? - ideally, using a spare ANT+ channel, or masquerading as a cadence sensor. Or, maybe some freebies as promotional material for the first 100 people to go premium, or to a paying status next month.
