Yeah, this would be great. Only viewable by your friend group. or by password if you want to send it to someone who is not currently on the site but you want them to see it, without making in public.
I second this vote, wholeheartedly. Right now, being 'friends' with someone has very little meaning. There really should be some "middle ground" between totally private vs. open to the world. I would like to be able to share the Activity Summary with friends, for example, but right now if you keep your stuff private then even your friends can't see much of anything.
Yes agree with this, sending gpx data via email is a pain for routes we don't want public. It would be nice to share more easily. Also it would be nice when editing a route, to have the option to add friends you forgot to add initially, when creating the route!
Should be able to share a route with someone not on Facebook - and who is not gps enabled. Basically send the route and directions as an attachment via email to anyone.
This would make "friending" someone on ride with GPS more useful. Often I post PROPOSED routes that I have never ridden, for friends to look at and critique and I am not sure about the safety issues or directions. It would be nice for them not be PUBLIC so that others would not try them before we are sure they are good safe routes.
really need an easy way to see which routes are set to private and to easily change private and public on routes in a list instead of having to edit each one to see if it is private or public and then change and save it.

THIS SEEMS LIKE A REALLY IMPORTANT ISSUE... WHY HAS IT GONE SO LONG WITHOUT BEING ADDRESSED?
We REALLY need some kind of way for users to either globally hide all routes and activities... or at least see a list of all routes and activities and their security settings... and a list tool to turn public viewability on or off from the list quickly instead of having to go into every one individually to see what its status is and changed one at a time.
I just logged out and looked at my account as a non-logged in user and was surprised at how many activities and routes show where I work and where I live! I try to make an effort to not make those public... but apparently I was unaware of how many I accidentally left that way!
PLEASE give us the tools to monitor and turn security on these things ASAP. It affects personal information that many do not want out in the public!
I too have found this issue to be a serious limitation of RWGPS as well, so much so that I'm now using an account with a competing service (which I won't name here) as my "main" ride log, and I'm sorry to say that because RWGPS has been so great in many other ways.
The two things which that 'competing service' does that RWGPS currently does NOT do:
1.) allows me to hide any segment of a route that falls within 1 mile of my house; and
2.) allows me to restrict the public from viewing any rides with one click and lets only people who use the service (and/or those who 'follow' me through that service) view actual ride routes.
There are still so many things that RWGPS does better than anyone, so I've maintained my RWGPS account. But after having my bike stolen from my home recently, these issues are now more important to me than ever.
On a side note, my main complaint about 'friends' on RWGPS is similar to others here---namely, that being 'friends' with another rider is almost meaningless. If there were a way to restrict rides to 'friends only' or something similar, it would give the 'friendship' much more meaning. Right now, it just means you get their feed and their pic on your profile page; nothing more. And this has not been addressed, I agree!
