Beginning with 26 miles of flat dirt on a New York City historic landmark. This 80% car-free route starts at the Glenwood Metro North train station in Yonkers and heads north on the famous Old Croton Aqueduct. It is unpaved and can get muddy in the rainy season, the shape of the South/North County Trailways can be washboarded, and there are several street crossings throughout, so 35mm tires are a recommended minimum. After the dam is a hidden dirt road along the reservoir until it links up with the paved North County Trailway to head back to the Bronx, and eventually takes you to the West Side Bike path. This route passes several train stations and towns, so food/water refills and bailout options are plentiful.

This ride starts at the "Glenwood" Station of the Metro North Hudson Line. This is a ride back to the city, although you could return to this station if you wish. Otherwise, the route will take you as far as the Hudson River Greenway in Northern Manhattan, at which point you can choose to continue down the East or West sides of Manhattan.
