The pancake house is conveniently located 5 blocks away from a NJTransit station with hourly trains back to New York / Penn Station (transfer at Secaucus). You can do the post-lunch segment, or you have the option to ride one-way (25mi) and jump on the train home after your eyes-bigger-than-stomach meal - trains leave once an hour, and take about an hour (with transfers) to reach New York Penn Station.
