Lucca Hills: Super Scenic Must-See

Route Details

With just one spare day (or ride) in Lucca, here's where to experience Lucca's iconic and picturesque hills. Elevation meters add up quickly but anybody with the right mindset (and an 11-32 cassette) can do them.

Rolling out from Porta Santa Maria — and beyond 10 minutes of traffic tops — you'll be in Lucca's glorious countryside. Pieve Santo Stefano is the rides first climb where@photo[ timeless Tuscan vistas](6490657) await.

Approach the @slice[descent from Forci](d,11211.96,14560.63) like a mountain bike trail: it's technical, twisty and steep but the pavement is good. If these words make your stomach turn, this 3 km stretch of pavement might not be for you.

Should you need to power up partway, there's @poi[Gelateria Sauro](13296314) in Ponte a Moriano along with @poi[Graziella Cafe](13294780) and a small fruit shop. You'll need to stray a couple hundred meters from the route by taking the bridge to Ponte a Moriano.

Make this ride shorter by going straight @poi[here](65151563) and cutting out the last (steep) climb through Arsina.

*Expect to ride small country roads that can be narrow and twisty. Be aware of your position on the road (please not the middle) because you may encounter cars or other cyclists in blind corners.*
