#  Cycling in the Southern Part of Heaven
Orange County, NC is home to the [Carolina Tarwheels Bicycle Club](http://tarwheels.net/wp/), a not for profit organization welcoming all cyclists who enjoy the sport as well as spending time with and meeting great folks who share the same passion.

We are fortunate to be located in an area where our routes take us thru some of the best cycling areas of North Carolina where we enjoy riding rolling hills that pass thru scenic farmlands and woodlands.

The club coordinates it's rides through a [meetup site](http://www.meetup.com/Tarwheels/) where rides are announced and ride details are made available.  We invite you to take a look, signup for notifications and come join us.

Our rides start from a variety of locations that give us great ride coverage of all of Orange County.   Monday mornings you can enjoy a ride that starts at [Gold Park](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Gold+Park/@36.0703683,-79.1183527,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x89acd8d55913a6f5:0x7030d53b78300644!8m2!3d36.0700307!4d-79.110396) in Hillsborough. For more than 30 years, every Wednesday morning, rides have started from [Union Grove Methodist Church](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Union+Grove+Church/@35.9868154,-79.1266012,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89acdb9dad9253a5:0x9d71553d66f09124!8m2!3d35.9868154!4d-79.1244125).  On Saturday mornings [Charles Herman Willson Park](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Charles+Herman+Wilson+Park,+Carrboro,+NC+27510/@35.9217091,-79.0804358,15.61z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x89acc3234833cb27:0x8307162059c778fd!8m2!3d35.9199571!4d-79.0754507) in Carrboro is a busy place with multiple rides getting organized.  These are just some of our favorite starting locations.

Starting in Hillsborough, this route will take you out of town heading into northern Orange Count... more

Starting in Hillsborough, this route will take you out of town heading into northern Orange County to Cedar Grove and then goes southwest into Mebane. On your way back you dip south and re-enter Hillsborough from the west. The northern part of the ride has more gentle rolling hills, while the southern part has a few climbs that will get your heart pumping. Once outside of the towns, you will be on country roads passing thru farms and woodlands. (less)
