Gravel Confluence
Created by:
Brainerd YMCA Gravel Grinders
Sat. August 12 3:00PM—Sun. August 13, 2023, 9:00PM
Location: Crow Wing State Park
Organizers: Matt Sundquist, josh pennington, Michael Hawkins
Join us for the 1st annual Gravel Confluence. The Gravel Confluence combines biking, camping, and music in a uniquely Gravel Grinders way. This year the exceptionally talented poet, songwriter, letterpress printer/book maker, public speaker and endurance cyclist Ben Weaver will be joining us for a casual afternoon ride starting at 3pm, social gathering @5pm, potluck, and camp out. Along the way we will learn about the land we are traversing and how people have connected with it over time. Think of this event as the Gravel Grinders annual Jamboree. Grab your bike, tent, riding buddy (we have extra's if needed), and join us for this unique experience.
We will start and end at Crow Wing State Park, so you can arrive by car, bike, boat, or any other mode of transportation you so choose.
The camping and riding portion of the event is not a requirement, but we guarantee memories and connections will be made with fellow cyclists.
Event Updates:
- We will be riding out from Crow Wing State Park at 3pm starting from the parking lot near the park office. So be ready to roll @3 (cough.. cough… Mike G).
- The ride will be approximately 13 miles of mixed terrain and will have stops along the way to discuss the history and cultural significance of the area. This is a party paced, no drop, conversational ride. No route will be shared in advance.
- If you plan on driving to the event remember that you will need a MN State Park vehicle permit, they can be purchased online for $7 a day or $35 annually. https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/permit.html
- After the ride there will be a social gathering with music and lively conversation. DON’T MISS THIS PART!!!! We will have picnic tables set up and some chairs available. If you are able to bring chairs please do so.
- If you plan on camping with us (which I highly recommend) sites can be reserved here:

We may still have a few sites left that were previously held. Reach out if you if you are interested in one. Those not camping are required to be out of the park when it closes at 10pm.
- This is a FREE event hosted by The Brainerd YMCA Gravel Grinders. Have you signed our ride waiver before? If not please follow the link below. Helmets are required and all traffic laws must be obeyed.
