Portland, OR: Today, Ride with GPS, developers of a website and smartphone app used by cyclists everywhere, has announced a new program to promote cycling tourism and local businesses by showcasing great bike rides.
Designated as Area Ambassadors, members of this program will leverage a suite of exclusive tools to showcase their best routes. Every route has a signature photo montage, the "Postcard", and a rich description that connects the discussion of points of interest and notable sections directly to the map & elevation profile.
Of this announcement, Ride with GPS's Zack Ham said, "If you have a vested interest in promoting cycling in your area, this program is designed for you. With these new tools, you can present bicycle routes in a way that informs and engages, and allows you to celebrate your business or organization at the same time. We're taking the benefits of crowdsourcing and adding a much higher level of quality, along with prominent recognition of the people doing the hard work to create and maintain this great content."
The Area Ambassador Program is a long-term strategic bet for Ride with GPS. Since it was founded in 2007, the company has maintained a focus on having the best route planner for bicycling, and is considered the preferred route planning software by cycling clubs and events throughout the world. Reflecting on the origins of this program, Ham commented, "Companies like ours tend to celebrate big numbers - millions of users, routes, miles - but we have always believed that a million subpar routes was just a subpar experience. We want to see the best routes, presented in the best way, because that is what creates great cycling experiences."
Ride with GPS has launched the program in partnership with 12 Ambassadors, all hailing from their home state of Oregon. Ride with GPS began working with this group in October, and they have developed over 60 carefully crafted routes that span the expansive geography of Oregon and include riding styles of road, mountain, and gravel.
