Nordegg, Alberta Local Overnighter

Not every route "goes" as planned. The first section of the route was excellent, and the second day planned route was impassable. Our alternate was to complete the loop on the Forestry Trunk Road, part of the GDMBR.

A scenic loop between Nordegg and the North Saskatchewan River. We also did a short out and back South along the Forestry Trunk Road scouting for the east end of the historical Alymer Trail (totally overgrown).
Boardwalks and gravel allowed us to keep our feet dry on the first day.
Nordegg is an interesting area to explore further. There are numerous developed mixed use trails, and camping options in the area. The Nordegg Trails Society are active stewards of the area. The burgers and pizza at the Nordegg Lodge Hotel are great, the Nordegg Canteen and the Miner's Café are also worth a visit! All locations are small and may have limited hours.
