SHORT DESCRIPTION: This route goes through farmlands and small communities around Dayton, VA, This is an easy ride with rolling hills and scenic vistas.
START: Wildwood Park, 622 W. Bank St., Bridgewater, VA 22812
PARKING: There is public parking at Wildwood Park, however, depending on the season, and day of the week, parking may be limited.
DIFFICULTY/CHALLENGES: This is a beginner level ride with some short hills. Bicycle traffic on these roads is very common based on the Mennonite presence. VA 257 (mile 2.6) is a major county road which can be busy. Truck traffic near the poultry plant in Dayton may be encountered. Traffic on N Main St in Bridgewater can be heavy at certain times.
DIRECTION: The map is laid out in a clockwise direction. It can be ridden in the opposite direction and in doing so, the hillier portion would be in the first half.
FACILITIES ON ROUTE: Route starts in Bridgewater where there are multiple opportunities for food and rest rooms; most are located on Rt 42/Main Street. There are restrooms at Wildwood park but they are closed during cold months. Small store and restaurants in Dayton.
