On a cold day only six of us set out towards our tea stop at Wyevale Garden Centre at Beaconsfield.
John, the leader, Alec, Cliff, Steve, Jean, and Terry. Surprisingly, as we arrived Brian and Steve, arrived. They recounted that the short ride was well oversubscribed with 18 riders, so they whizzed down the A40 to join us. Well done boys. Terry said cheerio. He had done 20 miles, excellent for an octogenarian. An objective for us all
Fortified we descended down the A40 to Loudwater and headed up Abbey Barn Lane to the summit of Flackwell Heath. We swooped down to Bourne End via Winchbottom Lane, a three mile descent which will be great in warm weather.
Lunch at the Spadeoak was pretty good. Under new management was a distinct improvement. Leaving we passed through Bourne End to Woburn Green and up the ‘giving’ Windsor Hill. Skirting Burham Beeches we passed Stoke Common and up Fulmer Hill and so to the A40.
The Ugly Ducking tea stop was an option which only Cliff and Steve T. grabbed. The rest dispersed and headed for a warm home.
