Park at the Schroon Lake Boat ramp or on E. Schroon River Rd. Don't park in spots designated for boat trailers. This lot has a portable toilet.

The east side has challenging elevation changes but is very quiet. The west side is a busy highway, but there are very wide shoulders most of the way. Be sure to rest in Schroon Lake Village around the 17 mile point. There are several places to eat or get food here. There is a Stewart’s there which has restrooms. Bandstand Park is also in the village which could be used as a rest stop with a view of the lake.

Riding in the clockwise direction is not recommended. Several miles of the east side of Route 9 have no shoulder necessitating sharing the travel lane with cars.
