The Mountain 420 is a multi-day bikepacking route. It spans several mountain ranges and watersheds, and ventures deep into Cherokee National Forest, the Cohutta's, Chattahoochee National Forest, and the surrounding Tennessee and Georgia countryside. There are many historical sites and side trips along the route. It passes through the heart of a Mennonite community and market, outdoor adventure centers and outposts, a winery, breweries, a bike shop, beautiful waterfalls, and small mountain towns.
This route abounds with free, primitive, and fee based camping, lodging, and resupplies. It has some of the best singletrack, vistas, gravel, and roads that the area has to offer. The singletrack included are at Chilhowee, Unicoi, Starr, Tanasi, Sylco, Mountaintown Creek, Pinhoti 1,2,3,4, Dennis Mill, Tatum Lead, and the Hiwassee/Ocoee State park trail.
This loop starts and finishes on the banks of the Hiwassee river in Reliance, Tennessee, but don't let that limit you. There are several incredible locations along the route to start your adventure.
This route should not be underestimated if you choose to ride the whole length of the route at one time. It was purposely designed so it can also be broken down into segments for riders just getting into the sport of bikepacking, riders who just want to tour one segment at a time, and riders that are training.
The file provided is just a rough guideline.
