Nice scenery
Safe parking for vehicle. Cycling and walking trails. Restaurants to stop and enjoy a cold drink. Beautiful sunsets.
Hefner is good for a quick, flat, almost auto-free 10-mile(ish) ride. Half the ride is in a park-like atmosphere and half is around the lake’s dam area (not quite so park-like). Safe with friendly autos, walkers and cyclists sharing some spaces and separating elsewhere. The “loop” will very soon include an option to connect to a much longer ride to OKC’s Lake Overholser and the OK River trail. (You can do this now, but a bike/ped bridge will open soon over a busy NW Hiway.)
