The Emmitsburg Trails - SUNDAY ONLY beginning Sept 11 (Hunting Season)
Variety describes what the Emmitsburg Trails offer.
Each of our five trails has a distinct personality. Some are nice. Some are mean.
The Purple Trail, a.k.a. The Family Trail, is flowy and fun.
Three distinct, singletrack, circuits introduce the beginner to true mountain biking.
This trail was specifically designed with kids and new mountain bikers in mind.
Challenge lines side by side with the main line offer skill building choices. Though mostly flat, a few gentle slopes ascend the mountainside. The flow is what brings the advanced riders back.
Beginner
The Green Trail gives you modest, steady climbs, intermediate rock gardens and two creek crossings.
Hard work has its benefits: descending from the top of the Green Trail promises big smiles and delivers.
Beginner/Intermediate
The Yellow Trail has an attitude. It starts with a steep, short, slickrock climb and throws rock gardens and armored Easter Eggs your way. Challenge lines abound, if you know where to look.
Recent forestry work has not reduced its fun quotient.
Intermediate/Advanced
The Red Trail is mean…and closed.
It does not like you and right now it is a hot mess due to recent forestry work.
It will be back online late next Summer. But don’t worry, while it waits for its refresh, it will seethe.
Advanced/Expert
The Orange Trail looks forward to your visit.
It has benefitted from some serious, recent grooming. Its singletrack crosses over the Eastern most
edge of the Blue Ridge. When the leaves are off the trees, the views can be distracting.
Long Orange climbs are balanced with long Orange, descents. A few, brutal rock gardens add texture to this classic East Coast out-and-back and the rolling section of Lower Orange
will make you glad you visited!
