A tour of low travel farm roads northeast of Ellensburg and then a really nice paved, mostly one-lane, scenic forest road that takes you to 5700 feet elevation on Table Mountain before the pavement ends. Then a 4000+ ft descent to the Palouse to Cascades rail trail and the finish.
Please note that snow closes the road in the winter. Check on conditions before attempting ride.
Rider notes: "On a clear day, the views are spectacular. And the climb is really amazing. Was low traffic on weekend and virtually no traffic on weekday. 7-8% average grade for the main part of the climb (about 12 kilometers). Not particularly leg-busting, but definitely a workout. Pretty steady climb without any really steep pitches (maybe 10-11% for really short sections). The downhill is awesome, even into a wind. And it’s pretty much downhill to really good pizza at the finish. There is 2km of gravel on JWT near the end, but it’s easily free-routed around via Dry Creek Road. Bonus option: About 5 kilometers of rough road from the end of pavement will take you to the Lion Rock lookout area. Tough riding but worthwhile if you have the bike for it. Even without getting credit for the extra distance."
