One sector @ 32 miles, begins at mile 29.
This ride circumnavigates the Big Summit Prairie, a beautiful prairie deep within the Ochoco National Forest. This ride is best in late spring / early summer when the flowers are in full bloom, the grasses are green, and the creeks are running full. And ... the washboard is less.
The ride has 4 distinct sections:
(1) The forest, part 1
(2) The prairie
(3) The river
(4) The forest, part 2
All are very distinct and beautiful.
Notes:
(1) Park at the Old Ochoco Ranger station. The building is no longer there, but there is parking lot with kiosk.
(2) There are no water and food stops along the way.
(3) This, longer version of the Big Summit Prairie Loop, adds about 18 miles and 1900 feet of gain and descent. The ride is demanding. Here is the link to the shorter version:
