Canal Connection: Purcellville W&OD Gravel

A meandering route from Purcellville to the C&O Canal at Point of Rocks that highly prioritizes low-traffic roads, is mostly unpaved, and is only a few miles longer than the shortest safe route.

For a shorter route to the C&O at Brunswick, turn left on Berlin Turnpike at mile 15.3 and continue 1.3 miles to descend to the Potomac and cross the bridge. This high-traffic road is not pleasant but is the only crossing into Brunswick.
