This ride (as mapped) starts from the Southport Town Center (shopping center at intersection of Lake Washington Blvd and Jefferson) in West Sacramento.
Riding to and from east Davis (Mace Park & Ride) would add approximately 26 total miles.
(1) the levee roads can be a little patchy and pot-holey in places, but definitely not the worst roads we have cycled on. Use caution, as there is no shoulder and some levees are narrow.
(2) there is a 1.5 MILE SECTION OF GRAVEL ON PUMPHOUSE RD. If you want to avoid this, stay on South River Rd (but know you'll be missing a sweet ride down Babel Slough Rd and Pumphouse Rd.
3) plan to stop at Husik's Hardware (cafe and deli) in Clarksburg. Perhaps pick up a sandwich to enjoy when you stop in at Bogle Winery, which a few miles down the road.
