The route in itself was good but the roads were just so hazardous. There are also alot of rolling climbs; a few that are either quite steep or just long running; which if your into climbing its good but 60 miles of it? That will burn any one's legs.
For Texas ride, minimal oil&chip roads, few patched, minimal highway, lots of nice asphalt, lots of pretty tree lined roads and although the hill profile looks tough, only a few hills that are long and steep enough to cause you to work. Equally lots of gentle hills to pedal with speed. If you do the Peach Pedal, lots of police support at intersections, guidance arrows painted on the route were well done so no confusions when riding at pace. Note, minimal post race water & cool down.
