Our most popular, challenging and very hilly route visits all three Civil War battlefields offering breathtaking mountain vistas along the way. This very hilly ride has about 6,964 feet of climbing with four Mountain Climbs and a lot of up and down in between. If you get tired, you can bail out at 65 miles, skipping Gettysburg (and the last mountain climb) in favor of a scenic nine-mile descent back to the start/finish.

Very scenic route that takes riders though rural farmlands, mountains, and of course Gettysburg. Highly recommend!

This is the Civil War Century. This is a hard century with a lot of climbing. Very little until the end flat sections. Up and down. Do not make this your first century ride. It is, however, very well organized with excellent volunteer support.

Varied terrain, scenic, sections are historic, swoopy decents, stops along the way for fluids, low traffic except for the first 5-8 miles out of Thurmont. Old way out of town was not as busy.
The climbs were brutal, but it was an awesome ride.

Lots of hills, including two very long climbs. Excellent scenery. Road quality was perfect for 95% of the route and at least "good" for the rest.

A challenging ride in the Catoctin mountains. It is a well run annual ride sponsored by the Baltimore bike club.

Goes through/near Antietam and Gettysburg Civil War battlefield sites. Most of the roads are rural, scenic and low traffic. There are some challenging hills so be ready for that. There are options to shorten the route.
