HWY 54 wasn't an issue, Lower Fayetteville wasn't as bad as I thought it would be only 42 cars, most gave me plenty of room. It's so wonderful to have the new Linc path to avoid all the other shitty ways to ride through Newnan. Just with that new short section and interstate bridge it's gone from unpalatable to not bad. As such it's a colossal shortcut to areas west of PTC.
I was able to really fly on the way to the WMA, mostly pavement, few hills and winds were low.
Tried out the street in Franklin that follows the Chattahoochee, it looks like it cuts through all the way parallel to the river. I was prepared to check it out, but there was a truck with teenagers around right where the gravel ended at a wonderful spot on the river. I quickly pivoted and looked to my right, which showed a washed out "road" that went straight up the hillside to the paved road. So I said hello, and started up the hill. They cheered me on as I went up. I am quite proud I made it all the way up as it was really washed out and between 15-20% easily. And I didn't even need a 1 to 1 ratio! only have a 42x39 at the moment.
The WMA road was open to the first campsite which was empty and far enough away from GA 219 to be ok, but behind the gate(The roads are gravel and I guess seasonal?), I knew there was a second campsite at the old crossroads at Owensbyville. I am glad I did this as of course it was also deserted and at a wonderful setting on an old homesite with some nice trees around. I put my tent in the spot where presumably the house was, amongst the daffodils, and went and did a tiny bit of exploring on the bike since I got there so early.
