Q & A with the guys behind this site
Cullen King, Co-founder
How old were you when you learned to ride a bike?
3
What was your first bike?
Not counting my BMX bike from when I was a kid, my first real road bike was a 58cm 1993 Trek 2100. I am 5’10” so the bike was considerably oversized.
Do you still own your first bike?
Yes, it is now my around town commuter.
How many bikes do you own?
2 - One for out and about, the other for actually getting in the miles.
What type of “Rider” are you?
Casual road
What is your favorite bike ride/route?
Probably the mountain lakes loop in southern oregon. Opens with a 3500 foot climb, couple distance options once you get up top, then finishes with a 7 mile 3500 foot descent down a great road.
What is your favorite post/ride snack/ritual?
Beer
What’s your favorite RWGPS feature?
Either competitions or segments. Whatever actually gets me out on my bike, so I guess competitions edge out segments for that reason.
Why do you ride bikes?
So I can eat whatever I want.

How old were you when you learned to ride a bike?
There's an old home video of me running into a curb and busting off my training wheels. I think I was 3 or 4?
What was your first bike?
Wow that's a tough question.
Do you still own your first bike?
Nope, but I've still got my first unicycle if that counts.
How many bikes do you own?
Three currently: Older Trek 2120 for riding in the rain, nice road bike for sunny days and longer rides, and a single-speed 29er for the dirt.
What type of “Rider” are you?
According to my GPS data, surprisingly slow... sure feels fast though.
What is your favorite bike ride/route?
Locally: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/64
I used to live on Fox Hollow, and Wolf Creek is awesome! Beautiful ride and really fun downhill sections.
Out of town: http://ridewithgps.com/trips/91886
If you are in Oregon (or make it to Oregon), go ride the rim you won't regret it.
What is your favorite post/ride snack/ritual?
Nothing beats firing up the BBQ and eating too much after a long ride.
What’s your favorite RWGPS feature?
Activity Center. Nice to maximize the calendar and see how much stuff I have (or haven't) been doing, and I like using it to log my workouts at the gym.
Why do you ride bikes?
I love how much distance you can cover on a bicycle. Whenever I can get out and do 50+ miles it feels like a little vacation. Also, nothing beats a twisty downhill after a hard climb (on the road or mtb).

I own five bikes: 2 road bikes, a mountain bike, a time trial bike and my dads old 10-speed that I use as a townie.

I like to consider myself to be an all around rider who love going up and down hills.
What is your favorite bike ride/route?
The Salmon River Loop: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1270017 I even created a facebook fan page for it! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Salmon-River-Loop-SRL/121605467921248
What is your favorite post/ride snack/ritual?
I have two favorite post ride beverages: Chocolate milk or a Coke
What’s your favorite RWGPS feature?
Has to be route creation. I love wasting hours of my life planning ride and looking for new routes or climbs that I can go and do.
Why do you ride bikes?
I think for me it still offers the same sense of freedom that it offered when I was a little kid. I never get bored or tired of it. Anything else I do whether it be read, play golf, rock climb, work, play video games I get bored really quickly, but I can go for a 6 hour bike ride and not once get bored. Riding bikes is just plain fun. I wake up everyday and want to ride my bike!
