From St Charles to Frankenmuth and back!

Route Details

This route will take you on two traffic free rail trail paths. There are three breweries along the way. First stop is off the trail a bit at Loggers Brewing. Secondly you'll stop in Frankenmuth at Frankenmuth Brewery for some food and drinks. You can eat at a vast amount of places in Frankenmuth so don't feel limited to the brewery. Lastly you'll come back into town and end at Oracle Brewing right next to the wonderful Pasongs restaurant and Mac's speakeasy. The ride is a lot of fun and a great way to get in a good 100k for the day.

Route

  • Loggers is bike friendly as well as Oracle with locations out front to park your bike. Frankenmuth Brewery is a bit of a wait during peak hours and there is limited parking. You may have to lock your bike up a block or so away and walk to area.
  • There is only two stops for food if you don't pack anything. Prepare yourself to eat either with a food truck at Loggers, in Old Town Saginaw, or at Frankenmuth.
  • Frankenmuth has plenty of sights and many places to see. Don't hesitate to make a whole day out of this.
  • Be careful in Saginaw and have a spare tube. I got a flat on the ride due to a nail. This is obvious, but I wanted to point that out.
  • The route does follow a semi busy road. Be cautious of cars.

Notes

  • This ride is good for Summer and Fall, although Fall better.
  • There are many open fields closer to Frankenmuth. Much of the wind is strong so a windbreaker is suggested.
  • Anyone should be able to make this ride as long as they have done a long day ride of 50+ miles prior.
  • Two water bottles on a mild day should suite you fine and plenty of stops should provide you more water if needed.
