## Route Overview

There are numerous signs identifying the trail, which as a rail trail is very easy to follow. There are also helpful signs during the short on-road detour. Forget the cue sheet, this is as close as you'll get to a marked course!

## Things You Should Know

* SHARE THE TRAIL! Yield to pedestrians and equestrians. Dogs may be off-leash.
* The trail crosses several roads along the way. Most of them are quiet 1-lane roads, some with signed and marked crosswalks. Two notable exceptions are the crossings at @point[Carnation-Duvall Rd NE/SR-203](d,11897.65) and @point[SE North Bend Way Rd](d,41689.11), which are major roads with faster traffic. **Always cross with caution.**
* The @slice[on-road detour](d,30136.62,34100.21) are bookended by a set of stairs. Tandems, trikes and velomobiles may have some difficulty navigating them, but alternatives are available.

## Alternatives

At @point[Tokul Tunnel](d,30125.08), you have 3 options to get onto Tokul Rd SE:

* Go up the [steep dirt slope](https://goo.gl/maps/PYrzhgoBJaq)
* Go up the [steep stairs](https://goo.gl/maps/QQxcredhq2P2) on the other side of the tunnel
* Go [slightly farther beyond the tunnel](https://goo.gl/maps/EXDKsKFwZSt) and use a short technical singletrack to climb to SE 60th St which connects to Tokul Rd SE

Once you're on Tokul Rd SE, you have 2 options:

* Ride downhill to @point[Tokul roundabout](d,31177.36), @photo[navigate through it](3308150), get a view of [Mount Si reflected on Borst Lake](https://google.com/search?q=borst+lake&tbm=isch) on @point[SE Mill Pond Rd](d,32513.55).
* Ride uphill and follow the center line to Reinig Bridge

Crossing Snoqualmie River at Reinig Bridge requires [navigating a flight of stairs](https://goo.gl/maps/Jm2jCR9Znh22). As an alternative, you may also cross at @point[Meadowbrook Bridge](d,33669.45) instead, and rejoin the trail at @point[Mount Si Golf Course](d,35450.18).

@point[Rattlesnake Lake](d,49458.26) is a very popular spot for tourists and hikers, so instead of resuming [the trail on the other side of the crosswalk](https://goo.gl/maps/SyovRJBTSkp), you may also use @photo[Cedar Falls Rd SE](3281230) to get to the @poi[Cedar River Watershed Education Center](5442612).

* @poi[Rattlesnake Lake Recreation Area](5442612) is a day-use area operated by [Seattle Public Utilities](http://www.seattle.gov/util/EnvironmentConservation/OurWatersheds/CedarRiverWatershed/RattlesnakeLake/index.htm). Parking is free year-round from dawn to dusk.
