Route Details

The Crown-Zellerbach Trail follows an abandoned logging road and railway line near the small City of Scappoose. This trail takes you from the Multnomah Channel to the Coast Range through lush forests. You will ride from paved asphalt to grass and dirt, gravel roads, and short muddy singletrack. The CZ Trail is an out-and-back ride allowing for easy modification if needed.

To get to the CZ Trail, you will need to cross the Columbia River Highway (also known as US 30). Please use extreme caution when crossing. Once across, your journey to the Coast Range begins. Enjoy your beginning climb for 12 miles leading yourself deeper into the lush fir forests while tracing along the Scappoose-Vernonia Highway. If needed, take a break at Scaponia Park with access to restrooms and 7 mile nature park just waiting to be explored.

When heading into the City of Vernonia, you will be riding along Highway 47 for approximately 4 miles. Please use extreme caution as there is not a wide shoulder and larger trucks frequent the Highway.

The City of Vernonia will be your turnaround point for this route. Check out these local restaurants for some mid-ride fuel:
