Beautiful views, "relatively" smooth gravel, freshhhhhhhh asphalt, and not too crowded. Lots of great places to grab food and a drink for your post-ride rituals.

# The Deets:

60% paved and 40% gravel. You can do this in either direction and neither is a bad option! Clockwise will enable you to climb the roughest gravel sections but the descent will be a bit steeper. Counter-clockwise enables you to do the steep climb and enjoy a nice long descent but the gravel gets a little bit rough in a couple of spots, so just watch out for that. We had a couple of pinch flats from a little bit of over-excitement and foregetting that our gravel bikes are not full suspension.

You can start from anywhere on the route of course, and Midway isn't exactly a difficult place to find a spot to park. Just make sure to be respecful of local businesses and homes. If you start near the @point[State Park](d,41006.92) or near the lake, you may have to pay some parking fees. I like to start at the point identified on the map because I am fond of the @point[outdoor shop](d,44759.35).

I would recommend downloading the route to your phone becuase you will lose service once you are up the canyons and it is possible to miss the @point[turn off](d,12897.64) to start on the gravel section.

A few other notes:

* This is a pretty steep route - moderate to advanced fitness levels
* Pack your own water and snacks - most of the stores where you will be able to buy anything are in the middle of town so if you are starting there you won't be able to grab anything until you are finishing up
* Plan on 3 - 4 hours of riding time (the steepness and the gravel slow you down)
* As if it needs to be said - tubeless is the way to go on gravel rides
