This is a great classic ride showing off one of the many awesome lookouts that grace our area!

At only 33km long with a little bit of climbing this is a ride to get a taste of what's on offer around Taree and the Mid North Coast.

Starting out on the beautiful Manning River you will head out into the Kiwarrak State forest to climb up to @photo[Breakneck lookout](12401296) and its fantastic views. The climb is steady with a few respites along the way. The @slice[last pinch](d,13619.98,14851.13) up to the lookout can be a bit challenging if you haven't been riding regularly.  
Once at the top you will be heading back down following a different path including popping into the local @photo[MTB trails](12401314).
Finishing it all off back at the river with plenty off cafes and pubs to quench your thirst.

# Route

* Parking and route start at River St, Taree
* The start of this route is on pavement along Manning River Drive, recommend staying on the cycle path next to the road for this section. It is also a good idea to do this on the return along this section.
* The climb up to Breakneck can be a little steep in places but as they say, "What goes up must come down"
* Keep an eye out for Koalas and Goannas!

# Notes

This ride is suitable anyone that has a moderate amount of fitness and a bike that can ride off road.
For the most part the fire roads that you will be travelling are usually in good condition (2WD accessible) but can deteriorate after sustained wet weather.

Bike wise, any off road bike will do... MTB, gravel, adventure, touring etc... If you have at least 32c tyres should you should be right but if the roads are in poor condition then something a bit wider would offer a more comfortable ride.

# Caution

While for the most part this route is generally fairly quiet there can be motorbike and 4WDers around in the forest so it is alway good to keep to the left and an ear out for them...
