Route Details

Fun, Five Star route from Downtown Bentonville out to Springtown and back.  This route has some incredible gravel, beautiful scenery, and will show you some of the beauty of NW Arkansas.  This is a great route for people who have lived in NW Arkansas for years or those visiting.  Have fun exploring!

# Route

* Find easy parking in Downtown Bentonville or Compton Gardens.  This also give easy access to the Razorback Greenway, Oz Trails, and Downtown Bentonville restuarants and pubs.
* Head out of Bentonville on Tiger Blvd with @slice[a fun descent past Coler Mountain Bike Preserve](d,2821.89,4698.45).
* Enjoy the gentle climb up @slice[Short Road](d,7654.61,10784.1) (it's really fun the other way also) 
* Careful as you @slice[cross Hwy 72](d,10784.1,13787.06) and wind your way through North Centerton
* Over the next 10 miles you will enjoy some rolling hills, incredible gravel, and some fun descents through the valleys around the Osage River.
* The @slice[descent into Springtown](d,35489.71,43702) and gradual @slice[climb out](d,43978.35,48712) is some beautiful country with horsing, numerous wildlife, Redtail Hawks, and in January & February you may seen Bald Eagles.
* You'll pass through the little town of Highfil where there's a refuel opportunity at the @poi[local Convenience Store](78663840).
* Wave at the airplanes landing and taking of at the Regional Airport.  Not many people see the gravel on the @slice[West side of the airport land](d,57411.22,63030.79), but it's amazing.
* From this point, it's a rather flat and fast return to Bentonville.  Enjoy it and plan on staying in Downtown Bentonville for dinner/food and drinks.  Lots of great options from Pedaler's Pub, The Meteor, Bike Rack Brewary, 8th Street Market, and more.

# Notes

* Watch for dogs as these are country roads.  It's best to slow down and walk your bike past any aggressive dogs (they are just protecting their land and will stay out of the roads if you're on foot).
* The route is great year round, but there is one low water bridge just north of Springtown that may be full in the late Spring.
