This route follows a flowy prairie creek valley, a high plateau between two valleys and finishes on the bike path back into Sheridan.

Routendetails

This route starts in historic @photo[Downtown Sheridan, WY](15904863) heading East out of town on pavement for the first 4.5 miles. Once you hit gravel, the route follows the Prairie Dog Creek Valley for 13.5 miles. While rolling thorugh the valley, you will pass lots of @photo[Irrigated Farmlands](15902543) flanked by @photo[Rolling Hills](15902535) and @photo[High Plateaus](15902542).

At mile 17.5 stay straight on Lower Prairie Dog Rd for another 3 miles to the @photo[Wyoming/Montana State Border](15902536). On this 3 mile out and back, you will encounter more @photo[Rolling Prairie](15902541), a @photo[Railroad Crossing](15902544) and extensive vistas of the Big Horn Mountains.

At mile 23.6 you will be back at the intersection of Lower Prairie Gulch Rd and Dietz Betty Gulch Rd. Turn left here and start making a long, slow climb onto the @photo[High Table](15902539) land that straddles the Prairie Dog and Tongue River drainages where you’ll catch glimpses of the lush Tongue River corridor below and the @photo[Vast Sheridan Valley](15902538) out ahead. You’ll also be able to see the expanse of the interior of the @photo[Big Horn Mountains](15902537) with its jagged peaks and glacier-carved cirques off in the distance.

Eventually you will descend down into the valley and the intersection with Rte 338 @point[(Mile 36)](d,57870.67). Turn left here and follow the paved road Briefly for just over 2 miles. Turn left again, and start working your way on Decker Rd to the Bike Path as you cross under Hwy 90 at mile 39.

Follow the @photo[Bike Path as it parallels Big Goose Creek](15902548). Pay close attention to the route as you work your way back into @photo[Downtown Sheridan](15904864) as there are several twists and turns on this part of the route.

All of the gravel on this ride is firm but you may experience some wash-board and pot-hole segments. There are no services or towns on this ride so bring as much water and food as you think you will need for the ride.
