## Why this route?

If you can complete this route with your current gear and fitness level, you can also complete any of the other routes we publish. The route is somewhat technical, but can be traversed even on a folding bike provided you fit gravel tires.
 
Given that the route circles back to the starting point, it is perfect for those who want to train for an upcoming endurance event or multi-day bikepacking trip. Just repeat the loop to achieve your desired distance and elevation goals.

In case anything goes wrong, you are still within city limits, and thus no more than a few hundred meters away from a road that will give you access to public transport, a taxi, a bike shop, or a pub.

A full loop will rack up slightly over 19km and 200m of elevation change. It can be shortened to 13km and 150m of altitude change by skipping the @slice[black segment](d,11729.6,17733.4).

## Segments

The route is divided into four segments – blue, red, black, and brown – plus the main descent and climb, all made public, allowing you to analyze and track changes in performance.

@slice["Creek & Peak" Blue Segment](d,0,5766.7) will take you from the start line to the lowest point on the route. You'll follow a single track that will take you in and out of the Gudeliai forest, ending up on the Upes gravel road - the fastest part of the route, where you can reach speeds in excess of 50km/h.

@slice["Creek & Peak" Red Segment](d,5766.7,11729.6) will take you from the lowest point on the route in the Neris river valley through Grioviai, then Dvaryksciai and then Raisiai villages. You'll end up at the Salote lake, where during the season you'll be able to enjoy the beach bar. Beyond the lake you'll traverse forest roads and single track to Pilaite.

@slice["Creek & Peak" Black Segment](d,11729.6,17733.4) presents an option: end the route early by continuing onto the brown segment, or take on the challenge and explore the Buivydiskiu manor and surrounding ponds. This section of the route resembles a dirt pump track in terms of flow, and thus, should generate lots of smiles for those who love technical, flowing stuff.

@slice["Creek & Peak" Brown Segment](d,17733.4,19180.1) connects the black and red segments to the Start/Finish line. You'll be passing by a bike shop in case you need access to tools or spares. There is also a pub and a pressure washer POI that may draw your attention.
