This is a very relaxing ride with no serious climbs, overall a descent as the route heads east towards Lake Winnebago. The ride passes through several quaint Wisconsin towns with lots of charm, wonderful people to talk to, and good food, good coffee and good times as you pedal along the Tomorrow River, Waupaca River, Crystal River and Wolf River from Plover to Fremont.

This route is day Three of a four day bike tour beginning at the terminus of the @poi[Tomorrow River State Trail](160044976) on Hoover Ave. in Plover, Wisconsin.  The Tomorrow River State Trail does require a Wisconsin State Trail pass for cyclists.@poi[ A daily pass can be purchased at the trailhead](160044976) on the routing for $5.00 or an [annual pass for $25.00 at this website](https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/admission/trailpass).  The trail pass is good for almost all Wisconsin State trails open to cyclists.  This pass is not the same as a State Park vehicle entry and parking pass.  Day three rides from Plover/Stevens Point to Fremont following the Tomorrow River, Waupaca River, Crystal River and Wolf Rivers through Amherst, Waupaca, near Weyauwega, and Fremont for a short day of 46 miles staying at the Blue Top Resort and Campground on Partridge Lake fed by the Wolf River.  Day four is also relatively short only 52 miles from Fremont through Oshkosh back to Fond du Lac. The first 11 miles is on the @photo[crushed limestone Tomorrow River Trail](18231209) from Plover to Amherst Junction.  Just before arriving in Amherst Junction the trail rides past @photo[Emily Lake Park](18231211).  There's not a lot in Amherst Junction other than a small town tavern, @poi[The Still Lake Emily Inn](158768312). But just down the road in Amherst are several options for the rider to take a break.  Starting with @poi[The Landmark Coffee shop and cafe](160057128).  I rode through Amherst on a Sunday late morning around noon and @photo[the Landmark](18231212) was @photo[full of people, many locals who were a lot of fun to talk to](18300828) and the food was really good.  Although I had already had my morning coffee I did have a @photo[hot Matcha Latte](18231208).  Other spots in the cute town of Amherst is@poi[ O'Briens](160057129), which came highly recommended to me by a lady who grew up in Amherst that I met on day two of the tour in Biron, Wisconsin at the Anchor Bay Bar and Grill.  And there's the @poi[Ambrosia Pub & Grill](160057130), all three are located on Main St.  When you're entering Amherst there are couple of stores to re-supply if needed: @poi[BP convenience store](158015333), @poi[Dollar General](158015334), and a @poi[local market](158015335).  The route between Amherst and Waupaca is on the @photo[rolling, paved, county roads](18231215) that take cyclists through the @photo[dairy and farm land](18231214) that is often next to woodlands and reeded marshes and wetlands where all sorts of wildlife and birds can be seen, and the famous, @photo[milk producing Wisconsin cows](18231216).  Waupaca is a lovely town and centrally located for all sorts of outdoor activities, especially on the waters of the @poi[Chain of Lakes](160059657), the @photo[Crystal River](18231227) and the@photo[ Waupaca River](18231224).  If the rider wants to change their overnight stay from Fremont, Waupaca would be a great choice.  The route entering Waupaca @photo[crosses the Waupaca River](18231222) over the @photo[Brainard Bridge](18231219) and once @photo[crossing the river](18231218) there is a wonder little park where I @photo[took several pictures.](18231226)

Riding out of Waupaca there's only about 14 miles left on the route to Fremont, Wisconsin and the @poi[Blue Top Resort and Campground](158015354).  During those 14 miles the route crosses Walla Walla creek several times which flows into Partridge Lake, that's also fed by the @photo[Wolf River](18231243) and the @photo[lake the Blue Top Resort Campground sits on](18231230).   The Blue Top resort is owned and run by a young family with small children and it's a wonderful property,  There's a wonderful @photo[little swimming pond](18231233) with a little sandy beach.  There are canals running through the campground for campers to dock their boats right at their campsites or on the @photo[general channel with several docks to tie off boats](18231235).  I set up my @photo[small tent ](18231228)in between the Partridge Lake and the @photo[little swimming pond](18231229).  The owners of the campground suggested a few places down the road into Fremont for dinner.  When I was in Fremont, it was unseasonably cool, with some gusty winds, with periods of sprinkles, so I decided to ride to the @poi[closest restaurant to the campground](158768315), @photo[The Nauti Turtle Bar and Grill](18231238), which had a live band playing when I arrived.  If the weather had been better the staff said their @photo[outdoor patio seating areas](18231241) would be over flowing and the band would be set up outside.  The @photo[Nauti Turtle ](18231239)has @photo[plenty of dock spaces for the boaters coming for a drinks, dinner or both](18231237).  The Nauti Turtle had a full menu and many Wisconsin beers on tap.  I settled on the @photo[spicy fish tacos and a Red Bobber Ale](18231207) from Fox River Brewery with locations in Oshkosh and Appleton.  Other suggestions given to me as places to eat were, @poi[The Hotel Fremont](160059965) and @poi[The Bridge Bar & Grill](158768317).

Day three is a very relaxing, short ride on mostly solitary county roads with very little traffic.  It's a very nice follow up to the long, ninety plus mile day two, which has it's own special charm of riding the Tomorrow River Trail, and then along several other central Wisconsin rivers into the classic Wisconsin small towns of Amherst, Waupaca and Fremont, that are all very entrenched in outdoor activities on the lakes and rivers that run through or by these quaint towns.  The family that owns and runs the Blue Top Resort and Campground in Fremont are very welcoming, friendly and helpful.  They also showed up at the Nauti Turtle Bar and Grill for dinner an hour or so after I arrived and the owner came up to me to say hello and chat for a bit.  If you choose to ride this tour, I think it will be hard for you, as it was for me, to pick a favorite day of this tour. But day three is tied for first, that I know for sure.  Have a great ride.
