A fun east side small winery tour. There is plenty to do on this ride besides taste wine. The art at Sculpterra is worth the ride alone. The route is through the gentle hill on the east side with ranches, farms, vineyards, and wineries.

Routendetails

The ride starts at the Paso Robles Event Center.  There is plenty of food, water, and restrooms nearby.  Every Memorial Day Weekend this is the location of the Great Western Bicycle Rally.  You will ride south on Riverside Ave then turn left on 13th street.  The road turns to Creston Road after crossing the Salinas River.  A left turn on Rolling Hills Road, a left turn on Golden Hill Road, and a right turn on Union Road  and you are out of town.  Be sure to make the right turn just before you get to Highway 46 to continue on Union Road.  Union Road takes you by Barney Schwartz Park and wanders through ranches, farms, vineyards, and wineries.  There are many wineries along the way, many more than I have highlighted.

You will come to a four way stop with Geneseo Road and turn left.  A short climb to the top of the hill is the beginning of a quick series of rollers that is a lot of fun to ride.  Geneseo ends at Highway 46 and a right turn and short ride takes you to Glunz Family Winery and Cellars.  They have a Bocce Ball court there if you don't want to taste their very fine wines.

Turn right out of Glunz Cellars and a short ride to Tobin James Cellars for your next stop.  Tobin James is a fun place with good wines to taste.  The tasting room is an old stage coach building.

You will now follow Union Road back to the four way stop at Geneseo and turn left.  The road climbs over the ridge and to the start of Linne Road.  Turn right at the stop sign and Cass Winery is there on your right.  This is the start of the Linne Road Bike Trial.  You can get a free bottle of water at Cass Winery as a cyclist.  I have never tried Cass wines so I can't say how they are.

Continue on down Linne Road to Sculpterra Winery for your last wine stop of the ride.  The winery is off the road on a dirt road a little ways.  This was the most talked about place we went to when I did this ride.  The wines are very good and art work of all kinds is all over the grounds of the winery.  There are many more things to do at the winery if you don't want to taste wine.

Linne Road will take you back to town and to Creston Road.

# Notes

* Most of the tasting rooms on the route open at 10am.
* The summer temperatures here can be very hot and the east side has very little shade.
* You might need to have some way to carry bottles of wine if you buy some.
* The ride is very enjoyable at an easy pace and there are plenty of stops to relax at.
* The tasting rooms will have water, food and restrooms if you need them.
* There is a small section of the ride that is on @slice[Highway 46](d,17974.59,20486.75).  It does have an eight foot wide shoulder but be careful.
