Routedetails

Start at the Starbucks parking lot in Battleground, WA and roll out until you reach the bike path at 4th St. This is where you can stretch your legs.

# Route

* You can park any where in the @point[mall parking lot](d,88.67). You are near a supermarket, pizza store (Domino's) and a coffee shop (Starbucks) so you can fuel/coffee-up before and recover after you finish.
* The route will take you through an urban-to-rural section of Clark County. Battle Ground is a rural community that quickly turns into rolling farm/ranch lands.
* As you make your way out on the route, you will come across a @point[few local wineries](d,10288.13) and several of the locals (i.e. cows and llamas).
* Once you turn onto Lucia Falls Rd, @slice[you are now riding alongside the Lewis River](d,11352.61,20359.46). You will see breathtaking scenery as well as rapids to entice you to float down river later on. Eventually, you will leave the rush of water for the buccoulic landscape and pasture lands near Yacolt.
* As you enter Yacolt, you will pass the @point[Chelatchie Prairie Railroad](d,24635.33). This is part of an old logging/short line rail that served North/Northeast Clark county up until recently. It has been used for everything from hauling freight and raw logs to local mills to providing excusrion rides between Battle Ground and Amboy.
* After passing through Yacolt, you head West on Yaclt Rd which becomes Garner Rd. @slice[This is where the climbing begins](d,25513.25,29622.68). Garner Rd meanders around until you reach Kelly Rd. Kelly Rd will then take you to NE Gabriel Rd. Gabriel will take you back to Kelly which you will follow until you reach NE 299th. As you turn W on 299th, you begin your journey back to Battleground. Follow 299th to NE 82nd St which will become Hyatt Rd near Daybreak Park.
* WARNING - @slice[The descent into Daybreak Park is fast and somewhat steep](d,45853.7,46528.92). There are a few hidden driveways as well as a road that intersects and will feed traffic to Hyatt. 
* @poi[Daybreak Park](1223924) is a good place to stop as it has restrooms and a chance to dip your feet in the cooling waters of the Lewis River.
* As you leave Daybreak and head home, you have @slice[one more climb out of the valley along Manley Rd](d,47447.24,48331.72). Once you climb out and make the turn, Manley becomes NE 72nd Ave and will lead you back to Battleground. You leave the mix of rural and urban when you head East on 239th. You follow 239th back to NE 112th St, which you retrace to get back to your starting point.
# Notes

* The best time of the year to ro this route is in late spring through mid-fall. The elevation is high enough that you could run into snow or frozen road conditions in the winter months. Also, Lewis River Rd is a moderately traveled two-lane road and, although motorists are courteous, you need to be wary when coming around wide sweeping turns as they tend to be hidden to motorists.
* If you are looking to add some harder climbing, instead of making the right turn on Manley, turn left and head to the East instead. You can follow to NE 92nd St and take the road back to your starting point.
* All equipment is dependent on your ability and time of year.
* This is not a beginner's route, but it isn't a difficult route either. Any rider of moderate fitness will find this to be a pleasant trip.
* There are rest stops along the Lewis River as well as @poi[Daybreak Park](1223924). There are some grocery stores in @point[Yacolt](d,24560.5) that offer snacks and beverages.
