Routendetails

This is a 13 mile route that will take you from Percy Priest Dam to the stadium. It's paved the whole way and it winds along stones river. There is one challenging hill about half way, and plenty of places to rest. As you take this journey in and out of woods and across two bridges you may also get a peek at the local wildlife.

Some of the animals that frequent the area are wild turkeys, whitetail deer, rabbits, gophers and grey squirrels. Many types of colorful birds are in the area. Close to the end of the trail is the [Shelby bottoms nature center](http://www.nashville.gov/Parks-and-Recreation/Nature-Centers-and-Natural-Areas/Shelby-Bottoms-Nature-Center.aspx), they can give you further detail about the plants and wildlife in the area. They also have lots of activities for kids to do and learn.

If you run into bike problems along the way, there are 2 local bike shops at either end of the trail. Please see the links below for the website, but im sure you will not have a problem finding local friendly people to give you a helping hand. Keep an eye out for the General Jackson river boat as you cross the @poi[Cumberland River](1457589). This is a very fun cruse that takes you from oprymills to downtown and back. The music is live and the food is great.

# Important Reminders

Since this route takes you along stones river, it would be a good idea to carry glasses to protect your eyes. This trail is known to have lots of flying bugs and no one wants to get hit in the eyes. Since water is spread out on this route, 2 water bottles could also be handy.
