This Route covers Cannaught place, Mandi House and India Gate. You will also touch back on both major Indian National Party Indian National Congress and Bhartiya Janta party in your ride.

This route is complete road route, and both Road bike and Mountain bike riders can take this. The total path is around 30 Kilometres and the best time to cover this route is in the mornings.

This route is an important coverage to three roundabouts of Delhi i.e. **Cannaught Place**, **India Gate** and **Mandi House**, each of them has historic significance and stand tall in the heart of Delhi. The ride route is pretty simple and enjoyable.

This route is specially enjoyable during the morning hours only. As during the day, these route becomes the most populated routes and may reduce riders pleasure.

# How to Start

This journey can be taken from any corner of Delhi and the best course is to warm up for 5 to 7 Kilometers before the starting junction. I have marked @point[Sarojini Nagar Head Post Office](d,26357.51), Sarojini Nagar as the starting point. If you start from here, it will take around 5 kilometers to reach @point[Akbar Road](d,4941.53). It is here we push hard and explore the three round abouts of Delhi.

This route is fully illuminated, nicely marked, green all around and broad roads. There are little or no constructions points and absolutely no speed brakers. You will ofcourse meet with few red lights, which a rider can easily jump in the morning time. All you need is one 750 ml of water bottle.

# The Akbar Road to Windsor Place
Akbar Road is a main road, in central New Delhi, India. At the north-east end it stretches from the India Gate roundabout. At the south-west end it stretches up to the Teen Murti roundabout. The roundabout leads to Rajaji Marg, Teen Murti Marg, Safdarjung Road and Race Course Road. It has India's political party Indian National Congress's head office.

To make the ride fun, do not go ahead and touch India Gate but turn left on to Janpath to cut across Rajpath. You will see Jawahar Lal nehru Bhavan on the left, @photo[National Museum](1188262) on the Right.

After crossing the Rajpath, on the left you will find @point[Le Méridien New Delhi](d,6958.63) which is situated two kilometres from Rashtrapati Bhawan, the home of the President of India, the Presidential Palace, Parliament House, and the commercial hub of Connaught Place. Nearby are the renowned convention and exhibition centres of Vigyan Bhawan and Pragati Maidan, as well as such places of interest as the India Gate and the National Museum.

# The centre of Gravity
Once You reach @slice[Windsor Place](d,6976.08,7192.18), you have actually reached the nucleaus of all the three roundabouts. It is from here and to here you will return after encircling each round about. Windsor Place is a roundabout at the intersection of Raisina Road, Ashok Road, Janpath, and Ferozeshah Road. You can see the towering Le Meridian hotel on one side, and hotel Shangri La on the other

This epic roundabouts have been vehmently defended by New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) from renaming it. Indian Prime Minister Sh. Manmohan Singh then wrote to NDMC to rename this [roundabout after popular writer Khuswant Singh's father Sir Sobha Singh](http://archive.indianexpress.com/news/roundabout-homage/817177/). However, it was turned down.

The centre of this windsor place roundabout is what is called as the '@poi[Gole Park](1475459)'. Laregely un-noticed, this place can be used by riders after finishing all the three roundabouts. ## Ride to Cannaught Place
let's start our ride to Cannaught Place by going straight to @slice[Janpath](d,7214.47,8248.49). You will meet a little narrow road once you approach Cannaught Place via Janpath. There is a red light and which require our attention. Once you pass the red light, you will meet on the left side the famous @slice[Janpath Market](d,7980.78,8248.49).

Originally called **Queen's Way**, it was an important part of Lutyens' design of the Lutyens' Delhi, upon the inauguration of new capital of India in 1931. Janpath Market is one of the most famous markets for tourists (both Indian and foreign) in New Delhi. The market essentially is a long line of boutique stores selling products which are hard to find in the malls and multi-chain stores of the city. The long line of boutiques is a heaven for budget travellers and shoppers, buyers of handicrafts and garments, curio and numerous Indian-style fast-food places. ### Cannaught Place
Connaught Place (Hindi: कनॉट प्लेस, Punjabi: ਕਨਾਟ ਪਲੇਸ, Urdu: کناٹ پلیس, officially Rajiv Chowk) is one of the largest financial, commercial and business centres in New Delhi, India. It is often abbreviated to CP and houses the headquarters of several noted Indian firms. The former location of the headquarters of the British Raj, the area's environs occupy a place of pride in the city and are counted among the top heritage structures in New Delhi. It was developed as a showpiece of Lutyens' Delhi with a prominent Central Business District.

Named after H.R.H. Field Marshal The 1st Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, construction work began in 1929 and was completed in 1933. The Inner Circle of Connaught Place was renamed Rajiv Chowk (after Rajiv Gandhi)[1] while the Outer Circle became Indira Chowk under Union Home Minister S.B. Chavan.[2] Today it is the fourth most expensive office destination in the world, according to global property consultant CBRE Group, and the fifth highest priced market in the world according to the 2013 Forbes list

**The Ride at Cannaught Place**

Though the place is of historic and financial significance, the ride is @slice[not as smooth](d,8248.49,10236.18) as the name suggest. The roads is broken at many places, and you will meet both red lights and bumpers on the way. Even in the morning there is rush of Buses also cutting across the red lights to ensure busy commuters reach on time.

**Advice**

Keep on the far left side when you enter the CP and then slowly take the midlle path. Both left and right traffic comes around. You got to see your back equally as you see the front. Once your transect the Barakhama road, be nice to roads, they are broken. @point[See here](d,9885.33).

Once you see the Janpath, you know that you have reached the safe heavens. Take the exit from Janpath again and rush back to cooler place at Gole Park at Windsor place again.

# Mandi House

This round about is relatively coolest and nicest one out of the other two. You start from windsor place and take the exit to @slice[Feroz shah road](d,11383.52,14269.22). After crossing a red light you reach Mandi House roundabout. From here connect again the ITO and also Barakhamba road. You may also go to India Gate from this round about.

This is short roundabout with roads digged to provide better grips. It's open and airy. And it has the Mandi Hosue Metro station recently inaugrated. Nearby is Bengali Market, but as this trip is about doing roundabouts, we will not go anywhere other than feroz shah road back again to each windsor place.

# India Gate
After having cool break, now is the last and most interesting roundabout, the India Gate. You take the @slice[Ashoka Road](d,14771.88,15765.37) and reach straight to India Gate. This famous road houses the @point[Office of Bhartiya Janta Party](d,15041.27) (BJP) and it is here you will meet a seculuded red light and a parked Police Van. Just rush through this passage and reach the mamoth @photo[India Gate](1188256).

**Road Advisory**

The best to beat traffic and to enjoy India Gate is to ride fast and smart and take the innner radius of the road. You know for sure that you just need to watch your right back, otherwise you end you watching left right centre back and all around to save yourself.

Once you are near Rajpath crossing, go to the left side of the road as you will have to exit @slice[India gate](d,15738.72,17957.65) and take again the Ashoka Road. The roundabout is 2.2 Kms.

# Back Home

Once you exit India gate you go back to Windsor place and then take a drink or two and come back safe to Janpath and then to Akbar Road.
