An absolute must do ride, challenging but worth every second! Don't miss the extra leg up to the tower on the way back, even though your legs might be screaming!

The ride to @poi[Cap Formentor](1570390) is an absolute must for any cyclist visiting the North East of Mallorca, we started from @point[Pro Cycle Hire](d,4.36), who have a great little Cafe in a quiet back street, you can top up with coffee and a snack before setting off, the other option for the start or more likely, the finish, is '@point[Tolos](d,3.46)'a much used cyclists stop, with a bike hanging rack right outside and a terrace to sit and enjoy the views across the bay with a post ride drink and snack, always very welcoming to cyclists with the bonus of all sorts of cycling memorabilia adorning the walls!

We would suggest that you get your legs warmed up before reaching the @slice[climb out of Puerto Pollensa](d,5329.3,8544.02), especially if that is your first climb of the day.

The route is not for the faint hearted, with some pretty tough climbs and one or two great twisty and fast decents, but the reward of the road and the views more than makes up for the effort.

There is a @poi[cafe at the lighthouse](1570390), but it is all the way to the end, including the final little steep section through the throng of tourist cars, caution is needed as there are often car drivers undertaking all sorts of strange manouvres in their attempt to turn around. Once at @slice[the end of the road](d,22064.62,22315.37), if you don't want to leave your bike unattended, you will need to shoulder it and trudge up the steps to the @poi[cafe](1570390)!

The ride back is just as satisfying but don't linger in the cafe for too long, as the @slice[first climb away](d,23371.79,26403.16) from the lighthouse is tough!

Just when you think it is all over and you have reached the last Col and the view over @poi[Puerto Pollensa](1570392), there is an option, on your left you will see a small and rather rough looking side road, it looks just like an overspill car park, don't be fooled, there is another @slice[little section of road](d,36707.31,38984.17) which in my opinion you need to make the effort and climb, particularly if it is a clear day! Climb all the way to the top until you reach the old military buildings below the stone tower, you will be rewarded by some spectacular views if you climb the last few metres on foot to the tower!
