Scottsdale, Arizona has been my home for almost two years and in that time I have been able to explore many of the great routes in town and the surrounding areas.  The variety of riding experiences range from:

ROAD

Most of the streets in Scottsdale are fairly smooth with plenty of bike lanes.  There are some great short climbs in the Paradise Valley area or long shallow climbs heading north towards Carefree & Cave Creek.  The North Scottsdale area is very popular with many of the group rides.  Pima Road (one of the most popular) is filled with cyclists in the bike lane every Saturday morning throughout the year.

MOUNTAIN

The trails in Scottsdale range from smooth & flowy to steep, rocky and technical.  The Brown's Ranch area (or McDowell Sonoran Preserve) has MILES of smooth, fast trails suitable for riders of all abilities.  Phoenix Mountain Preserve & the west side of the McDowell Mountains (near the DC Ranch neighborhood) are more technical, rocky and challenging.

GRAVEL

There are plenty of opportunities to ride gravel or all-road in Scottsdale if you're willing to explore & possibly link together a few paved streets, paths and trails.  There are also smooth, fairly flat canals for those days when you just want to pedal with fewer cars around and maybe a few hikers/runners along the way.

There are also plenty of great areas to ride surrounding Scottsdale & Phoenix - Sedona, Prescott, Flagstaff & Tucson....just to name a few.  The routes you will find below have been ridden, explored and enjoyed.  If you need any help finding your way around, please ask!
