Vermont Bikepackers

[Vermont Bikepackers](http://https://www.vermontbikepackers.org/) is a volunteer-operated 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a chapter of the Vermont Mountain Bike Association (VMBA). We're supported entirely by members and donors.

We chart routes across the state's network of ancient unmaintained roads as well as recreational trails such as rail trails, singletrack, and town forest trails. The paths are already there -- we did not build them, but we do link them together into routes.

In addition to charting routes, our members advocate to increase bikepacking access across Vermont. We strive to align with existing initiatives that have community support. We work to maintain accurate and up-to-date information, and we aim to keep healthy relationships between landowners, local trail organizations, and all trail users, including bikepackers from everywhere.

Although anyone can download our routes, you can join our [VMBA chapter](https://vmba.org/join/) if you'd like to contribute to our mission and get looped into communications.

The Vermont Super 8 is a bikepacking route in the shape of an 8 that connects dirt roads throughout Vermont. It uses gravel roads, some pavement, and many stretches of rugged pathways, rail trails, singletrack, and Vermont's famous Class 4 town highways.

Difficulty: Advanced. Copious climbing and rugged terrain.
Recommended bike: gravel or hardtail MTB. (less)
