Whether you find yourself with a little time between appointments on a weekday, want a weekend ride with your buddies or need to fit in a interval workout after work, the Verdi/Somersett Loop can fit the bill.

Starting at [Walden’s Coffeehouse](http://waldenscoffeehouse.com/) at the corner of McCarran and Mayberry, this loop very central and is easily accessible from anywhere in Reno.  An easy, flat warmup on Mayberry and Fourth St. takes you into the small, unincorporated area of Mogul. Up until recently, riders who wanted to connect Mogul with Verdi had to venture onto the shoulder of Interstate 80. In 2005 a short but @slice[vital connection](d,8801.59,9477.31) was built making this route much more rider-friendly. Eventually, the [Tahoe Pyramid Bikeway ](http://tahoepyramidbikeway.org/)will connect Lake Tahoe to Pyramid Lake, a distance of 116 miles.

The route eventually reaches the bucolic town of Verdi, just adjacent to the California border. After crossing the @photo[Truckee River](759325) a couple times you retrace your steps to the entrance of @photo[Somersett](759323) along the base of Peavine Peak. Here you will experience your first @slice[climbs](d,23550.68,32378.23) of the day, although they are reasonably short with a very friendly grade. If you need to push yourself, try doing some quick loops around the Del Webb community. Each loop adds about two miles and 250’ of climbing. The road through Somersett has a beautiful bike lane through rolling hills. One last climb, a screaming decent and you quickly are back on Mayberry for a relaxed cool-down.

The end of the ride, should you desire it, has bountiful @poi[food](1059097) choices. It’s a great place to stop and reflect on the ride or a brief intermission before you tackle more Reno riding!
