Laurel Hill is a popular mountain biking destination along the southern fringes of Fairfax County, VA. Once a high security penitentiary for the District of Columbia, Laurel Hill is now a thriving recreation area in Northern Virginia. This route will take you around the trails at the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Meadowood Recreation Area hitting all of the main loop and the three internal trails, including Boss, Stinger and Yard Sale. The Meadowood mountain bike trail is a new addition to Fairfax County and Northern Virginia, and the only BLM trail in the east coast, and offers riders of all levels many challenges. This route will take you through several trails in mature hardwood forests in the Mason Neck Peninsula. (less)

I've been working to improve the trails at Locust Shade and have been systematically changing up my route to maximize my riding experience in an attempt to hit all the trails in my preferred direction. There are a couple of portions that I double back on, but they are necessary in order to maximize the "fun" factor. This route samples the trails in their best direction. Once you spend time seasoning 95th St. or Power you'll easily end up with double digits. (less)
