Route Details

Before heading out, you’ll find plenty of Pacific City shops and restaurants to fuel up with. @poi[Parking](8446848) is free and it’s a great launching point for your ride.  When you first get onto the sand, @slice[be aware that vehicles are allowed on the beach here](d,21013.16,21628.02). Be careful as vehicles tend to move fast through the soft sand and may not be able to stop quickly.

Take your ride to another level by climbing the @slice[large dunes of Cape Kiwanda](d,586.12,999.79). As you head up and over, explore the different awe-inspiring viewpoints. Ready to try something wild? Grab your brakes, get your weight as far back as you can, and attempt to @slice[ride down the north side of the dune](d,917.6,1298.92).
 
@slice[Once back to the flat beach](d,1543.68,3503.09), make your way around the rock features until you hit the small town of Tierra Del Mar. From there, you can turn around and head back the way you came and experience the dunes from another angle.
 
As you head south down to @slice[Bob Straub State Park](d,9491.56,21628.02), the vehicles will fade away and you’ll be on an isolated spit for a few miles. The sand here can be soft and coarse, making it slow to ride on. Riding at low tide to take advantage of the hard, smooth sand will make your adventure here much faster and easier.
 
At the end of the spit, you’ll have the beach to yourself, with a @poi[view of a spectacular mansion](8363163) up on the cliff across from the inlet. As you head back, you may even run into some @poi[horse tours](8363162). Make sure not to spook the horses by jumping off your bike.
