Easily customizable tour of beautiful Port Orford offers the views, the climbs (if you want them), and the food!
Looking for a perfect all pavement spin while you're staying in beautiful Port Orford?
This loop can be customized easily and offers you views of all the best photo opportunities along the way. It is an easy ride for beginners who want to get a little exercise and enjoy some scenic spots in Port Orford. Cut out the Vista Drive to Cemetery Loop section for a ride with less elevation; or add an out and back to the Port (via Dock Road) as well as up Coast Guard Hill to make it more of a challenge for those eager to test out their climbing legs, and get those extra views.
Be sure to follow the rules of the road, watch for logging and tourist traffic along Highway 101 crossings, and enjoy a tour of our quiet coastal town. Highway 101 has a bike lane for your use and there are bike racks throughout town.
Start and end at centrally located Pineapple Express Adventure Rides off Highway 101 & 9th Street, where you can grab a cup of joe and a scone from South Coast Gourmet before hitting the streets. Be sure to bring a framebag or back-pack to pick up a picnic lunch from Golden Harvest Herban Farms, or stop into Crazy Norwegians Fish and Chips, both right on this all inclusive cycle route!
Best place for picnics include Battle Rock Wayside, Tseriadun Beach Park, Paradise Point, or Buffington Park. You'll just want to take into account the wind direction and find a sheltered spot during windy summer months. Please take your trash with you and keep our oceans clean.
Finish your ride with a pizza and brew at the local's favorite Ed's Underground Pub, where you might stumble into a great jam session with local musicians; or sip some whiskey and watch the waves and whales at the trendy restaurant with a view: Redfish.
