Route Details

This mostly gravel route is filled with satisfing descents and traverses through beautiful Crown land. Those prepared for adventure could easily extend their trip by exploring the numerous side trails that cross the main route. Two Island Lake Road at Highway 41 is a logical starting point and has space for a few cars to park. The route runs near several lakes but shorelines can be muddy so be sure to plan water properly. Late summer or early fall is a great time to try this route to avoid bugs and spring mud.

# Route

* Park at @poi[Two Island Lake Road](10789616) which makes a good stagin and start area
* Expect some decent climbs. Some cyclists riding loaded bikes may need to walk certain sections. The @slice[long descents](d,13938.93,18383.98) are well worth the climbing effort though! 
* There are a @poi[few campsites](12545376) along the way and likely more than what's indicated on the map. Fortune favours the bold!
* @point[Hiking trails](d,33659.41) near Griffith and the Lower Madawaska Provincial Park offer an additional opportunity to explore the area.

# Notes

* Tire widths in around 40mm or bigger are ideal for this route but it has been done with 35mm and even a fat bike.
* Riding this route is a great way to enjoy fall colours.
* The route sees almost no traffic but some ATVs and trucks may travel  at dangerous speeds.
* OpenStreetMap fairly accurately reveals the web of trails that fill the area. An adventurous cyclist could extend their ride by exploring some of these. Be prepared for mixed terrain, rocks, roots,mud and fallen trees along some of the side trails.
* Exploring side trails during deer hunting season is strong discouraged.
* A @poi[few small restaurants](12545378) in Griffith and a General Store are available for food.
