Touring the Upper Galilee with its gorgeous views all the way to Lebanon and the Mount Hermon. This route packs a lot of climbing in some of the most beautiful roads in the country.

Route Details

Beautiful views of the Upper Galilee, bordering Lebanon with amazing views also to @photo[ Mount Hermon ](6601355) bordering with Syria.  The route starts in the @poi[Gome](13559554) Junction, where there is a gas station and a small shopping mall.  There is plenty of parking space, a convenience store and restrooms. This is a favorite starting point for many rides in the area.  This route should satisfy your climbing needs.  It is not very long in mileage, so you should be able to complete it in less than four hour moving time.

The route is a simple loop, with a climb back to the Menara Cliff to complete your climbing goals.

# Route

* Park in the @photo[Gome](6601426) Junction, where you can use the restrooms and use the convenience store for any last minuteneeds.
* Leave the gas station turning right and then immediately left on the traffic light (you may want to use the pedestrian crossing) onto route 90 south.
* Continue to the @photo[Koach](6601408) Junction where you will turn right towards Sasa.  Here starts your first climb.
* At the end of the initial climb (about 5.5 kms) take a right towards @photo[Misgav Am](6601320) onto route 886.
* You are now into some rolling hills and then climbing again towards Kibbutz @photo[Menara](6601407).
* Continue straight on a nice downhill and then a final climb towards Kibbutz @photo[Misgav Am.](6601428)
* Go back on your tracks and turn left towards Kiryat Shmona.  You are now onto a @photo[great descent](6601343), passing kibbutz Kfar Giladi, the @photo[Tel Hai](6601318) monument and ending in Kiryat Shmona's entrance.
* Turn left on route 899 and immediately left you can use the @photo[Tennis Center facilities](6601381) for water and restrooms.
* Go back on your tracks and climb back towards @photo[Menara](6601386)'s cliff.
* Turn back now towards Kiryat Shmona, passing the town, and continue south on route 90 until you reach the Gome Junction.

* Both Menara and @photo[Misgav Am](6601354) offer some gorgeous views.
* When riding on route 886, you can enjoy gorgeous views of @photo[Lebanon](6601420) and the Mount Hermon.
* Route 90 can be busy at times, but it is fairly wide and you can safely ride on the shoulder.

# Notes

* Like most rides in Israel, you should avoid doing this ride on hot days.
* Enjoy the Benaya lookout in Misgav Am and you can enter the Kibbutz for a tour inside.
* You may also enjoy the Menara Cliff facility where there is a cable car that takes you to Kiryat Shmona.
* There is a lot of climbing but no section is overly steep.  However, you must be prepared for doing over 1700 meters of climbing.
* Water, food, and other services are available in the Gome and Koach junctions, as well as in Kiryat Shmona.
