Route Details

Begin the Deruyter Reservoir Loop in Cazenovia’s Lakeland Park at the corner of Albany Street and Forman Street. Ride the gentle swells of Route 13 South through open farmland to the hamlet of New Woodstock with its historic church, cemetery and celebrated library. Turn right on School Street and follow the quiet paved side road through a dairy farm and along the eastern base of a forested drumlin. Turn right on Smith Road and breeze down a steep descent through another dairy farm.

Briefly rejoin Route 13 South before turning right onto Hunt Road, a quiet flat road through farmland dotted with pine groves at the southern base of the drumlin. Turn right onto East Lake Road for 4/10ths of a mile before turning left onto South Lake Road at the base of Deruyter Reservoir. Stop for refreshments at the DeRuyter Lake General Store.

From South Lake Road turn right onto West Lake Road, a narrow shaded road nestled between the eastern side of another forested drumlin and cottages that dot the reservoir. Turn right along Dam Road that follows the northern tip of the reservoir. Turn left onto East Lake/Reservoir Road through rolling farmland, past Creekside Meadows Farm. Cross over Route 80 and continue along a quiet back road with a short steep descent, sharp left turn, and short steep climb to Kiley Road. Turn right onto Delphi Road and follow rolling hills back over Route 13 to East Road, past open farmland, down a short descent, up a short climb, and along a steady descent back into Cazenovia. Finish with refreshment in the village of Cazenovia at The Pewter Spoon.
