Oshima and Hakatajima

This route starts in Hojo, goes over the shoulder of Mt. Takanawa and around Tamagawa Reservoir. Then it heads down into the centre of Imabari, visiting pilgrimage temples and Imabari Castle. The route returns to Hojo around the coast, passing a petroleum refinery and sake brewery. (less)

This loop takes to you up to Mt. Ishizuchi, the highest mountain on Shikoku. The route takes you on the UFO Line, an amazingly scenic road traversing the shoulder of the mountain, offering views over Kochi to the Pacific Ocean. You return along the great Yoshino River. (less)

This varied route starts in Niihama with a good hill climb up the side of Mt. Higashi-Akaishi on the Besshi Line road, followed by a long descent beside the beautiful Dōzan River into Shikokuchūō. It returns to Niihama along the Sanuki Kaidō, a little-known road that was originally the route taken by pilgrims heading to Konpira Shrine. (less)

Naruto in Tokushima is famous for the whirlpools that form in the Naruto Strait between Shikoku and Honshu islands, under the Onaruto Bridge, where the Seto Inland Sea joins the Pacific Ocean. Lesser known is the impressive inland sea, the Naruto Uchi no Umi, formed by islands at the western end of the great suspension bridge. (less)
